Practice makes perfect. How to prepare for ER Champ?
The World Escape Room Championships are coming soon. Many players wonder what the recipe for success is and how to prepare for the competition. We have gathered some of our proven methods that may help you!
Games from previous editions of the championship
Our games from previous editions, which you'll find in the GAMES tab, are a great idea to get familiar with the mechanics of the game if you're taking the ER Champ challenge for the first time. It's also a good idea to get into the mood of our games and get a free, not-so-easy workout. Some ER Champ games can be played solo, others require a minimum of 2 players.
Android/iOS games
In the Play and App Store you will find many free games based on the mechanics of searching, solving logic puzzles and uncovering secrets. These types of games teach perceptiveness and improve memory. There are really many games, but we can recommend the New York Mysteries series, Unsolved: Hidden Objects or Can you escape 100 rooms.
Card or board games
The advantage of many escape room board or card games is that you can play them alone. We know that there are teams, who have been playing ER Champ for years, who do it completely remotely, and it is to them that we dedicate those proposals.
You can find many series of escape room games on the market, among which EXIT, Deckscape, Unlock! and Escape Tales are worth mentioning. The advantage of most of them is their low price. The games are not playable, but as long as you don't destroy the pieces inside the box, you can pass games on or gift them to a friend.
Escape Tales series
The above-mentioned titles can be played alone but also with a group of friends.
Computer games
Love for escape rooms often goes hand in hand with interest in computer games. Therefore, this way of preparing for ER Champ could not be missing in this article.
In addition to classic escape room games, which are still abundant on the Internet, we recommend, for example, great cooperative games from the Eleven Puzzles studio. You can find the studio's three currently available games, which combine storylines, on Steam.
Eleven Puzzles, Unsolved Case
Escape rooms
From the very beginning of the creation of the Championship, our goal was to promote escape rooms. So how could we not recommend them? Escape rooms are great for preparing a team; they teach cooperation, improve team communication, as well as develop creativity and perceptiveness. Besides, it's great fun!
Book games and detective stories
According to research, reading books has a positive effect on the brain. Some of the biggest benefits of reading include improving memory, keeping the brain in good shape (since reading engages many areas of the brain) and developing an imagination.
One of the most interesting and at the same time the most difficult puzzle book is Cain's Jawbone - a puzzle that is almost impossible to solve. Why? This amazing novel contains 100 pages printed in completely random order. The reader's task is to sort the pages in the correct order, because only by doing so will it be possible to learn the mystery of the six murders.
However, this is a difficult and time-consuming challenge, and we give it rather as a curiosity (maybe you will decide to solve the mystery of Cain's Jawbone before the next Championship?). Other proposals worthy of try are paragraph games and books - including the world-famous Journal 29 series, The Great Sherlock Holmes Puzzle Book, but also detective novels.
Do what you like!
If none of these suggestions seem interesting or suitable for you, do not hesitate to look for ways on your own. Maybe your way to warm up your brain before qualifying and improve your concentration will be meditation, crossword puzzles or charades.
No matter which way you choose, we hope you have fun on qualification stage! Of course, we also wish you to get to the finals.
